Stepaside resident, Michael Christopher Carter has been a carer for his disabled wife and two autistic sons for more than 10 years. But being at home has meant he has been able to fulfil his dream of becoming a published author. "I've always wanted to write, ever since teachers told me I had a talent at school," said Michael. "When I turned 40, I felt I had enough life experiences to give a lot to writing. I have now completed two novels, both of which feature real people with real issues finding themselves in supernatural situations. The first 'Paved with good Intentions' (available in Tenby Book Shop) is set in Swansea and the second, 'The Hum', due to be released in June, is set in nearby Narberth." Asked when he found the time to write with three charges in his care, he had this to say: "It is very hard to find the time to write, but I have managed in-between my caring roles, sometimes very late at night. I am usually up helping one or other of my family. "I have been busy at various book signing events in the area and I am thrilled with the reception I am getting from local readers. And local book and gift shops have been immensely supportive too. "I am very lucky being an author in Wales and particularly in Pembrokeshire," he added. "Other authors I know in other areas have not had anywhere near the support I have been lucky enough to enjoy."
