Pembrokeshire author Dr. Brian John dropped in at Kilgetty Community Centre on Friday to officially open its new community library.

The brainchild of the Kilgetty/Begelly Community Association, members of the local community have donated between 1,500 and 2,000 books for people to borrow on a 'bring one in, take one out' basis.

"If you come without a book to exchange the first time, then there will be a charge of 50p for a paperback and £1 for a hardback," explained chairman of the Kilgetty/Begelly Community Association, Mr. Neil Jackson.

"After that, if you bring a paperback, you can swap it for another paperback that takes your fancy, and the same when it comes to borrowing hardbacks."

There will be a nominal charge of 10p a book towards community association funds to enable them to expand the range of books available.

Run on a rota of volunteers, the library is open in the community centre from 1 pm to 4.30 pm every Friday.

After officially opening the library and wishing it every success, Dr. John was then on hand to sign copies of his books, including his new novel set in north Pembrokeshire 'On Angel Mountain'.
