Local author Gerald Codd held a book signing this month to launch his latest release -‘Manorbier, the Parish in old photographs’.

It is the second book from Gerald on the Parish of Manorbier, after his first ‘Manorbier Parish, a history’ which was published about six years ago, was well received.

His new book is a collection of over 160 old photographs, some very rare, of the four villages of Manorbier, Jameston, Manorbier Newton and Lydstep, which are within the Parish.

Also included are photographs of the chapels, the beaches, the farms, the railway and the military presence in the Parish.

The oldest photographs are two of the castle taken in 1880. A short commentary, giving a brief history of the various subjects, is also included.

“An audience joined me for the book launch in the Crypt of Manorbier Castle, which was an excellent place to have had it, and thanks go to Dame Emily Naper,” said Gerald.
