AS part of Tenby Museum and Art Gallery's continuing contribution to 'Museums and Galleries Month', a further 'artist-in-residence' day will be held tomorrow (Saturday) between 10.30 am and 4 pm.

The artist who will be working and displaying his art works is Doug Perry, well-known for his depiction of the Tenby landscape in oil, watercolour, collage and print.

Doug Perry is a staunch member of the museum's volunteer force and has, over the years, designed and built a number of successful exhibitions and displays. His craftsmanship and expertise have helped towards the production of one of the museum's popular current exhibitions 'The Story of Tenby Gallery'.

Attending Dover Art School part-time before the War, Doug completed his studies (after his RAF service) at Dover, Folkestone and Canterbury Art Schools, specialising in silk screen printing.

He worked in London for many years as a silk screen artist, being involved with commercial displays for amongst others, Walls Ice Cream, Vacuum Oil Company, Smith Radio Mobile and Helena Rubenstein.

In the late 1960s, Doug worked with disabled children and adults in teaching both art and social activities. This he did for over 20 years based in Folkestone, Neath, Aberystwyth and Pembroke Dock.

On his retirement, Doug ran his own silk screen and letterpress printing business.

Doug, who lives in Tenby with his wife Jane, continues to produce skilful landscape works of Tenby and the surrounding area.

A warm welcome is extended to all who would like to visit the museum tomorrow and meet the artist.
