THE woods of St Brides first inspired Milford Haven-based artist, Tracy Kopjas to take up her paint brush. It was a feeling of love for the wild garlic, Bluebells and giant Rhubarb plants which led to her first painting of 'Skip to the Woods.'
Shortly afterwards, she painted 'Sandy Haven,' 'Saint Brides,' 'Late Spring' and many more.
This initial excitement of painting local scenery helped her during the onset of a debilitating illness (post viral fatigue syndrome).
In 2002, she was commissioned to paint an image of a sailing boat moored in Milford Haven docks and this led to a subsequent exhibition in Haverfordwest in August of the same year.
Kopjas' work has developed from watercolours to large canvases using gold announcer. She also paints bright glittery mirrors designed to hold candles and which she describes as pantomime mirrors, full of childish charm.
Although not formally trained, Kopjas believes that her artistic expression had laid deep and undiscovered until now. She thanks local people for the help and encouragement which has led to her first solo exhibition.
Kopas has painted portraits of her children, and is available for commissions. Please contact Tracy direct on 07787 340 114.
Her work may be viewed at the Torch Theatre during May.
