A house in Llanboidy has been voted the best decoated in Wales. The dazzling display at the home of the Phillips family at Merlais came out on top of over 200 entries to win ITV Wales' Christmas lights contest. Gwynlais and Mary Phillips, daughters Buddug and Angharad and son-in-law Tom spent three weeks last month decorating their bungalow and adjoining dog breeding kennels with 27,000 individual lights and a vast array of Christmas motifs and characters, which are complemented by seasonal music and carols. The family, who have raised thousands of pounds for charity with their festive illuminations for the past nine years, are delighted with the accolade, which they hope will result in them raising more money for their chosen good cause, the Chemotherapy Day Unit at Glangwili Hospital, Carmarthen. Hundreds of people have already been travelling to see the colourful display which can be found five miles off the A40 from Llanddewi Velfrey - just follow the Pemberton's Chocolate Farm signs.
