ON Monday, May 19, a concert will be taking place at Saundersfoot School in aid of the National Children's Orchestra of Great Britain's forthcoming tour of Italy. The concert is being organised by 13-year-old Lily Whitehurst, who is currently a member of the NCO and is hoping to travel to Italy with them in September where they will be performing on the island of Ischia and also in Rome. Orchestra members have been asked to raise money themselves to help finance the tour which is a celebration of the orchestra's 30th anniversary, so Lily has decided to organise this concert. It will feature Lily herself on the violin playing a variety of music ranging from Haydn to Bartok to John Williams. Also very kindly agreeing to perform in the concert will be flautist Catherine Hare, a former member of the NCO, the Greenhill Junior String Quartet, Lily's brother Harry, a percussionist, and the Mezin String Quartet, of which Lily's mum Rebecca is a member. The concert starts at 7 pm and tickets are available on the door at £4 for adults, £3 concessions and £1.50 for children. All are very welcome.
