Christmas will be brighter in Narberth this year thanks to the new illuminations purchased with funds raised by the Mayor's Christmas Lighting Appeal.

At Tuesday night's town council meeting, Clr. Eric Feetham reported that the new lights that had been purchased had cost £1,572.01 and the money in the appeal account totalled £1,530.63.

However, further donations had been received since he checked the balance of the account that lunchtime and he was leaving the appeal open for a few more weeks as other people had promised donations which he had yet to receive.

Clr. Feetham thanked everyone for their "wonderful support," including the press for coverage of the appeal.

"Every time I had my photograph in the 'paper more money came in," he said.
