The Paul Sartori Foundation, as part of their recognition and support to those who have recently been bereaved, hold remembrance events every year in the county.
These events are part of the ‘Light up a Life’ season which is recognised by hospices up and down the country as an occasion to remember and celebrate the life of a loved one, in a safe and relaxing environment. The Foundation opens up the ‘Light up a Life’ season in November and the closing event is held in January at two separate locations in Pembrokeshire.
The Paul Sartori Foundation would like to invite those that have lost a loved one to attend either or both events. At these events, individuals are given the opportunity to light a candle as a tribute or as a mark of remembrance for that special person who lit up their life, or was an inspiration to them. There is also an opportunity for a dedicated message for a loved one to be included in the book of remembrance.
This year, the Foundation will be holding these special ‘Light up a Life’ events on Saturday, November 26, 3 pm, at Penybont Congregational Chapel, Wolfscastle, and on Saturday, January 28, 3 pm, at Picton Castle, The Rhos, Haverfordwest.
During both occasions, music, readings and two local choirs will perform. Afterwards, individuals are invited to stay for refreshments giving them an opportunity to meet and chat with friends old and new.
Toni Dorkings, organiser of this event for the Paul Sartori Foundation, highlighted: “We understand that this time of year can be a particularly difficult time for those who are bereaved, and simply surviving Christmas may seem like a daunting task,” adding: “The festive season is when families reunite and friends gather. Sadly, for some there will be a name missing off the Christmas card or a space at the table. We hope this event will provide comfort to them.”
If you would like to attend, consider including your favourite poem or reading at either of the ‘Light up a Life’ events, or dedicate a message in the book of remembrance, please contact Toni Dorkings on 01437 763223.
The services provided by the Paul Sartori Foundation are free of charge, available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and enable people who are living in the later stages of any life limiting illness to die at home if that is their wish, with dignity, independence, pain free and surrounded by those they hold most dear.
In addition, the Foundation also provides bereavement and counselling support to all. Further information on these services and the charity, please visit www.paulsartori.org, or ’phone 01437 763223.
