Light up a Life at Shalom House, St. Davids, provides an opportunity to celebrate Christmas and to recall special memories of festive times with loved ones who are no longer with us. The event takes place on Friday, December 5, at 6.30 pm, and it is open to everyone.
The Christmas tree lights outside Shalom House will be switched on by Canon Geoffrey Gwyther and visitors will gather round singing Christmas carols.
There will be an input from younger members of the community with children from Solva and Ysgol Bro Dewi Schools singing their own special Christmas songs, and young musicians from the St. Davids Area Orchestra accompanying the community carol singing.
Afterwards, there will be mulled wine and mince pies.
Shalom House - the first palliative care respite/daycare centre in Pembrokeshire - was officially opened on November 23, 2007.
It is currently offering day care and support to adults with life limiting illnesses, but is looking forward to providing overnight respite care in the future.
People can remember loved ones by making a donation to Shalom, and forms are available from Arwel Davies, Shalom chairman and trustee, c/o V. G. J. Johns and Son, Goodwick House Chambers, 19 West Street, Fishguard, SA165 9AL, tel 01348 873671.
