The wonders of spring will lift your spirits at the Welsh Open Spring Show and Festival of Gardening at Scolton Manor on Saturday and Sunday, April 5 and 6.
This Pembrokeshire Horticultural Society event improves yearly, with entries from all over the UK. So besides all the floral exhibits to see in the large marquee, there are also arts and crafts. There is still time for you to enter.
If you can put together a mini patio garden, or a maxi spring garden - the prize of £100 or £150 could be yours. Show a pot plant or cut flowers - daffodil or narcissi, tulips, auricular, camellia and many other spring flowers. Prizes range from £40 to £20.
This year's theme in the open floral art challenge is 'The Golden Wedding Anniversary'. In the floral art section there are some wonderful fun ideas - Wind in the Willows, Jungle Book, Flowers in the Attic, Through the Looking Glass, ladies corsage and gentleman's buttonhole.
If you're not into the horticultural scene - you can still pick up some good prize money for entering wines and home brew. In the cookery section try bread, bara brith, Welsh cakes, scones - many more items are on the list.
There are children's sections of all kinds. Spinning, weaving feltwork and patchwork, knitting and many other items of craft. Perhaps you're a budding metalworker, woodworker, photographer or artist.
"This year we have also included a considerable number of antique stalls from all over the county; some are specialising in collectables, curios and prints - they are a welcome colour to our Spring Show," said a spokesperson.
"We'd also like you to come and see the great changes going on in the arboretum. Through some funding raised by the Pembrokeshire Horticultural Society many new trees have been planted, and pathways cleared.
"Many of our regular nurserymen and plantsmen will be there with good stocks of spring plants and shrubs - plus good growing advice as well. As usual there'll be a spread of different talks and advice clinics."
Scolton Manor is on the B4329 road north of Haverfordwest, heading for Cardigan. The show is open daily from 10.30 am - 5 pm, though Saturday morning there will be judging for the first hour in the marquee.
If you would like a show schedule or want to have a trade stand call show secretary, Jan Spicer, on 01348 88 14 00.
