Both Tenby's inshore and all-weather lifeboats launched on Tuesday after an upturned boat was spotted off the coast near Manorbier at approximately 1.15 pm.

Once on scene, both boats started to search for likely persons in the water.

Tenby and Manorbier Coastguard rescue teams searched the coastline and managed to recover the boat when it washed ashore in the swell.

The description matched a missing dinghy that was last seen on Caldey Island.

It became apparent that the dinghy had most likely been washed off the slipway at Caldey sometime before and travelled on the tidal current to Manorbier.

A military Lynx helicopter also assisted in the search as the firing range had to be closed whilst the incident took place.
