Tenby's all-weather RNLI lifeboat was requested to launch at 6.45 pm on Thursday after Milford Haven Coastguard received a call from a fishing boat stating that red flares had been sighted in the St. Govans area.

While on their way to St Govans, the volunteer crew on the lifeboat also witnessed several red flares fired in the same area.

A thorough search was conducted from Freshwater East to St. Govans, but nothing was found.

Further information received determined that the flares were in fact part of a military exercise taking place in the Castlemartin area.

The lifeboat then returned to station, arriving back in Tenby at 8.25 pm.
