Tenby lifeboat was launched at 4.45 pm on Friday after Milford Haven Coastguard received a mayday call from a vessel named Dorothy stating that she was taking in water and sinking off Freswater East. On arrival, the three occupants had taken to their dinghy. The casualties, who were well equipped with flares and lifejackets, have been praised by the charity for their safety conscious attitude. Nicola Davies, RNLI Sea Safety manager said: "It's refreshing that people are taking heed of sea safety advice. It is so vital to carry the correct equipment when going to sea. This very incident goes to show having the right kit can actually save your life if things do go wrong." The party were taken onboard the lifeboat and the crew towed their vessel to Freshwater East, where it was beached. Steve Lowe, RNLI mechanic at Tenby Lifeboat Station said: "The vessel needed to be quickly removed to prevent further pollution and risk of other boats in the area colliding with the partly submerged vessel." The RNLI advises anyone taking to the water to adhere to five top tips: • Wear a lifejacket • Carry some means of calling for help • Check the weather and tides • Check your engine and fuel • Tell someone where you are going
