Pembrokeshire’s Library Service is performing well in most areas, according to the annual assessment report by the Welsh Government.
The report considers how the service benefits local people and reviews its performance across quality indicators and performance measures.
Four key areas are examined; customers and communities, access for all, learning for life, and leadership and development.
The report states: “Pembrokeshire is currently performing well in most areas, within a limited budget, and should be commended for its careful planning and strategic approach, including managing ways to reduce the impact of budget reductions.”
It went on to state that “Pembrokeshire provided two outstanding impact case studies and two personal testimonies from users which showed the real difference the library service makes.”
Pembrokeshire County Council’s head of cultural services, Mike Cavanagh, said: “This assessment is a tribute to the hard work and dedication of library staff working in a challenging financial climate. I was particularly pleased that the service was recognised for the positive impact it has on our communities.”
The report was published by the museums, archives, and libraries division of the Welsh Government.
