Sir,

The West Wales Maritime Heritage Society has, over the years, amassed a small but interesting library containing books of special maritime interest. Many of these are specialist books that have been long out of print and are invaluable to those researching matters marine. Up until recently, the library was stored in a building on Milford Docks, which was excellent for security, but presented difficulties when a member required access to carry out research.

However, the relentless march of progress has caught up with us and the building is soon to be demolished to make way for the next stage of the Milford Marina development.

A large workforce of society members swooped on the library recently and removed all the precious books to temporary storage. Thus we find ourselves with a library, but no building to house them where they will be safe, dry and hopefully available once more to those members who wish to use the archives for research purposes.

We have carried out exhaustive enquiries to try to find a suitable building without success and so we are appealing to everyone in the hope that someone somewhere (hopefully in southern Pembrokeshire) has a dry and secure building that we would be allowed to use as our library.

If you have such a building, or a room within a building, say 15 feet x 10 feet approximately and feel you would like to assist please contact me on 01646 683764.

Hon. Secretary,
