Sir,
It is generally accepted by lawyers that the worst kind of law or regulation is the type that is unenforceable, and this is the situation those responsible find them selves in now with the latest covid regulations. The latest lockdown has gradually become something of a farce with many selfish and totally irresponsible second home owners from all parts of the UK flooding into holiday areas often from areas of high covid infection. Is it any wonder that so many local vulnerable elderly and shielding individuals are in a state of fear with Easter approaching?
I have now given up reporting these people as nothing is done, not the fault of the Police but of the Welsh Government which refused to give adequate powers despite being asked by Adam Price MS to do so, with give powers given to enforcement bodies to instruct individuals to return to their main residences as well as a minimum fine of £1000.
A professor in one London hospital recently said of these people “They will have blood on their hands and they won’t even know it, as the effect of their travels will only become evident long after they have returned home.”
