It's almost time to polish your high-heeled sneakers and luminous socks - and rock on down to the RAOB Club in Kilgetty.

Normally on the second Friday of each month, there's a chance to bop early next month - on Friday, October 7.

Everyone is welcome to this informal fun evening which attracts rock 'n' roll fans from all over Pembrokeshire. Not many dress the part, but you won't feel out of place if you do.

There's basic instruction for anyone who wants to learn how to do one of the easiest dances in the world. You'll also see people strutting the even easier Twist and the Stroll.

It's a good way to shed those extra pounds. And you'll meet new friends of all ages and backgrounds. There's a great atmosphere - as you'd expect from this punchy music - and nobody is left out.

The popular RAOB Club in Station Road, Kilgetty, is often praised for its sound system and snazzy lighting. There's even a spinning glitter ball.

And there's a bar for sagging dancers and people who just want to watch over a relaxing drink.

There's probably no live band this time, but recorded music from the '50s and early '60s, together with a few jive classics from the '40s.

Hopefully, Pat and Sian will be there to take you through some easy steps in novelty jive, which don't need a partner to do.

The entry fee is £4, one of the cheapest nights out in the area. And time is called at 11 pm, so everyone has time to recover for your other weekend activities

Boppin' Brian, instructor and rock 'n' roll historian, said: "People who come for the first time are especially welcome. And they nearly always come back again and again."

The rocking starts at 8 pm. Please come alone or bring friends.
