Sir,
I have taken my children to many seaside towns, and whenever it has rained we have headed for the cinema, along with a lot of other people. Even in fine weather, a visit to the cinema is part of the holiday experience.
It beggars belief that a comfortable, well-run cinema would not turn a profit in the holiday season, and when the holidaymakers go home it could tailor its programme to a local audience and also be used as a conference venue.
I see from your recent reports that while the apparently pusillanimous town council is happy to roll over as soon as the developer starts expressing a lack of commitment to the cinema, the National Park Authority is made of sterner stuff and is less amenable to having the wool pulled over its eyes.
Let's hope reason prevails, before holidaymakers turn their backs on no-fun Tenby.
Keith Clarke,
London.
