The vice-chairman of Pembrokeshire County Council, Clr. Clive Collins, attended a school council meeting at Lamphey Primary School to discuss recycling with children. School pupils have been collecting paper to recycle as part of their work in the Sustainable Schools Award scheme. Launched three years ago, 53 schools in Pembrokeshire have now joined the pioneering scheme, which aims to educate children about the need for sustainable development as well as global citizenship. The project is run by Pembrokeshire County Council's education and environmental services departments, along with six partner organisations. Lamphey School joined in 2003. The children are currently learning about the need to reduce waste and litter together with the topics, healthy living and community citizenship. Clr. Collins presented school council members with recycled bags and stationery.
