Pembrokeshire Leisure staff have been training flat out to improve the service.
In recent months they have been embarking on a programme of study for leisure industry awards. The latest group to achieve NVQs in leisure and sport were recently presented with their certificates by Clr. Rob Lewis, cabinet member for leisure. Run by Icon Vocational Training, the awards are part of a major training initiative aimed at raising standards in leisure centres across the county. Over the past 18 months, over 80 staff have prepared for awards.
"Such training will help improve the service we offer leisure centre users to match the £20m investment that we have made in the leisure service as a whole in Pembrokeshire," said Clr. Lewis.
"Awards such as these will help raise standards and create a workforce better equipped to promote a healthier and fitter population."
