Welsh MEP Jonathan Evans has been learning at first hand how important Oakwood is to the local economy.
The Conservative MEP for Wales was visiting the tourist attraction at Canaston Bridge with Angela Burns, who is the area's Conservative candidate in the assembly elections on May 3.
They were given a guided tour by Oakwood's managing director Paddy McNamara. "He told us how unequal it is that most of the grant money from Europe and the Welsh Assembly goes into manufacturing and that tourism is ineligible for these grants," said Angela.
"This is because manufacturing is considered to bring in more jobs for people but tourism is a vital part of the local economy and not only provides jobs, but attracts many people to the area which again adds to the economic spend throughout Pembrokeshire "Just one example is a link up between Oakwood and Stena Ferries which encourages people to pop over to Pembrokeshire from Ireland to spend a day at the theme park.
"More must be done to encourage businesses like Oakwood setting up and we should acknowledge that tourism is as vital to our economy as manufacturing."
