Pembrokeshire College panto poster girl Abby Brenchley from Narberth has been overwhelmed by the amount of attention she has received since being cast as Robin Hood in the Merlin Theatre Company's production of Robin Hood and The Babes in the Wood which opens at the Merlin Theatre, Haverfordwest, on December 8.

As the title character in the rock 'n' roll panto, Abby expected to be recognised once or twice after the show had been performed, but never dreamed she would become a recognised before the opening night.

"It's the posters and the roadside banners that feature my photo that are getting me recognised," chirped Abby, 18, a student on the National Diploma in Performing Arts course, Level 3, Year 2.

"Simon Haslam, my lecturer, warned me that I might even get proposals of marriage, but as yet things have not gone that far!"

Although busy in rehearsal, Abby took time off to explain to us that it was not really celebrity she was after, but the chance to perform for Pembrokeshire families at Christmas.

"Merlin Theatre pantomimes are famous for their raucous style and great songs and I just wanted to carry on that tradition," enthused Abby.

Robin Hood and the Babes in the Wood runs from December 8-12, at 7.30 pm, with extra matinees at the weekend.
