They sailed by day and bopped by night. Lawrenny Yacht Club's 40th anniversary celebrations started with the County Regatta from July 22 - 24 and finished with a boisterous gala dinner last Saturday, August 6.

Organisers were delighted with the regatta turnout - 13 cruisers took to the waters on Saturday, July 22, and 21 raced on the Sunday.

Saturday's Division One IRC Class was won by 'Inca', owned by Fred Fisher, of Neyland Yacht Club, with 'Starlight Express' coming in second and Chilli Chaser third. Division two was won by 'White Lines', owned by John Davies and family, Pembrokeshire Yacht Club, followed by 'Kaiku' and 'Marek'.

On Sunday, Division One IRC Class was won by Inca, with 'Double Trouble' coming second and Starlight Express third. 'Spindrift' led Division Two, followed by 'White Lines' and 'Erika'.

Said club commodore Vince Price: "Everyone involved had a fantastic weekend and we were delighted by the number of entries in all classes of cruiser racing. We aren't a big club, but we were able to tackle an event of this scale because of fantastic support from our whole community, our sponsors and Steve and his team at the Lawrenny Arms. You couldn't find a better example of village life than here in Lawrenny."
