A recent lunch held at the Lawrenny Arms to raise money for Cancer Research was kindly provided by Steve and Teresa, great supporters of the Carew and Cresswell Quay local committee.

This event has been held over a good many years and has proved very popular. Fifty tickets were sold and there was a choice of two main meals produced by the kitchen staff of ‘the Doghouse’ and desserts were courtesty of the committee.

The whole event was rounded off by coffee and mints, a shared workload with great results as the treasurer was able to bank £610, which included the ticket and raffle sales and a donation.

Amongst the people who sat down for lunch was the former treasurer of the local branch, Miss Mary Dony, who was accompanied by Mrs. Christine Lloyd. Everyone was delighted to see them.

The raffle as always proved popular and the winners were: Bob Parcell, a voucher for Milton village shop; Janet and Maurice Cole, Joan and ‘David D’, bottles of wine; Marjorie, Jeanette and the pub staff won chocolates; a garden twine set was won by Joyce Jordan; and Rolly Edwards was the winner of some biscuits.

It was another successful fundraising event, another wonderful amount of money. Very grateful thanks go to Steve, Teresa and staff for all their hard work and to all the loyal supporters; your money and your support by being there is very much appreciated.
