Two of Tenby's best known troopers are taking to the boards again in this year's Arts Festival next Friday, September 23, in Church House, at three o'clock.

Laurie and Pauline have been at the centre stage of Tenby's artistic scene for all of the 50 years I have lived in Tenby and were probably hard at it before that.

Pauline used to produce her famous Gang Shows with up to a hundred children which took place at the Playhouse when there was a big stage behind the screen. Laurie was a centre piece of Tenby Players for many years, one of his famous performances being in Fiddler on the Roof.

As a duo, Laurie and Pauline have done extracts from Under Milkwood and have a vast collection of witty and amusing songs with which to entertain their audiences. It must also be added that any money received always went to charity. Between them it must run in to many thousands of pounds.

There was talk of retirement from the festival two years ago, but our 20th festival would not be the same without this pair of entertainers as they have only missed one year out of 20.

It must be added that the last time they performed there was a total panic as twice as many people turned up as had been expected and there was a frantic run to Sainsbury's to bulk out the home-made tea that comes with the performance.

Don't miss out this year.
