This year is already shaping up to be a big one for Laura Hugman. She is stepping into a new leadership role as Chief Executive Officer of Pembrokeshire charity, The Paul Sartori Foundation while also taking on one of the toughest personal challenges out there, running the London Marathon.

Laura steps into the CEO role, having previously been the charity’s Clinical Lead for 10 years, and having been offered the Interim CEO role since January 2026. During her time at the charity, she has played a central role in shaping and delivering compassionate care for people across Pembrokeshire, working closely with patients, families, staff and volunteers. Her deep understanding of clinical services, combined with her calm, people-first leadership style, brings continuity, trust and experience to the role at an important time for the charity.

As CEO, Laura is building on Paul Sartori’s strong foundations while keeping a clear focus on what matters most, supporting people living with life-limiting illness. She is committed to ensuring the charity continues to grow sustainably, while staying true to its values and the needs of the community it serves. She will work closely alongside long-standing board members Dave Evans, Chair, and Jason Tomlin, Vice-Chair.

Away from the office, Laura’s marathon journey has been a personal leap as well as a physical one. She would describe herself as new to running, having joined The Waterfront Community Runners in 2021. What began as a way to get moving has steadily grown into a challenge she once never imagined taking on.

Training takes consistency, resilience, and patience, qualities that closely mirror the care provided every day by the Paul Sartori team. Early mornings, long runs and tired legs are all part of the process, but Laura is keeping her motivation firmly rooted in purpose and the people the charity supports.

Running the London Marathon is no small feat. It is 26.2 miles of physical and mental challenge, cheered on by thousands and watched by millions. For Laura, it is also a powerful opportunity to shine a spotlight on the work of Paul Sartori and to raise vital funds, helping ensure compassionate care is there for families when they need it most.

As Laura takes on these new challenges, one in trainers and one in the boardroom, she does so with the same drive and heart. We will be cheering for her on every step of the way on Sunday, April 26, and hope that she can raise around £3,600 – the amount it costs per day to run our hospice at home services.
