The dreaded Thursday night phone call received by fixture secretary Keith Walker from the Neyland fixture secretary advising that the scheduled fixture on Saturday at The Clicketts would not be played, was the last thing Tenby United's 2nd XV coaches Nicky Rees and Chris Brace wanted to hear as they selected their team for what was to be the final league game of the season. To maintain momentum within the team, the decision was taken not to broadcast the message, but select as usual and get the team to meet at the Clicketts on Saturday and use the opportunity for a training session in preparation for their Junior Cup Final against high-flying Whitland on Thursday, May 1, up at Crymych with an early 6.30 pm kick-off. In addition to the training session, the team went on to support the 1st XV in their game against Milford Haven at Heywood Lane, and then retired to the club to be presented with the League Winners Cup and medals by the Pembroke and District Junior Rugby Union chairman and secretary, W. Cridland and Keith Bryant. From what can be remembered about what went on after the presentation, the consensus appears to be, a good night was had by all and all players, team manager Faddy Thomas and coaches are looking forward to May 1.
