Undergraduate students from Pembrokeshire are being encouraged to apply for a scholarship and summer work placement at the UK’s largest energy port before the deadline today (Friday).

The Port of Milford Haven launched its annual scholarship scheme last month, which provides four students with awards of £1,500. The initiative is now in its 14th year and during that time has supported over 60 people with their studies. A wide range of placements are available in areas such as the marina, fish docks, engineering and marketing.

One of the winners of the 2015-16 Scholarship Scheme, Guto Harries, completed his placement in August and said: “The experience was absolutely invaluable, both in terms of providing an insight into a professional working environment, working on real projects in real situations, and self-development with the opportunity to apply previous learned knowledge.”

To be eligible, students must be on a degree course at a British university and have completed the majority of their secondary education in Pembrokeshire. Applications must be completed online by today at www.mhpa.co.uk/scholarships
