Springboard Learning Pembrokeshire would like to thank all the families who took part in the recent lantern making workshops run by Springboard, in the schools of Pennar, Pembroke Dock, St. Mary's and Pembroke Comprehensive.

At the request of the Pembroke Dock Festival Group, Springboard took on the challenge of running nine family learning courses in lantern-making across four different schools.

All courses were full to capacity and all of those involved showed great enthusiasm and dedication to making their lanterns.

This year's theme was angel lanterns, and all of those taking part took great pride to make their own individual angel to carry in the parade.

The key to the success of the workshops was the brilliant skill and encouragement of Springboard's tutors, Ben and Becky Lloyd, who inspired and ignited creativity in the schools and the open workshops, held in the beginning of December.

On the community open workshop days, Springboard staff were joined by a number of skilled and experienced volunteers who got stuck into the major lantern installations.

The 2012 Pembroke Dock Lantern Parade proved to be bigger and better than ever with record numbers of people attending the workshops and more lanterns made than ever before.

Hundreds of local people from the Pembroke Dock area carried their lanterns with pride in a dazzling display of creativity.

Springboard would like to thank all of the schools, pupils, families, festival group, festival group volunteers, all of those who made the lantern parade such a huge success.

"This really is a reflection of the wonderful community spirit that lies at the heart of Pembroke Dock," said Laura Phillips, Springboard co-ordinator.
