Some 15 years ago it was suggested the ladies should start a Senior Section and this idea was welcomed by those of us no longer youngsters. Since then, the section has always been well supported by those who have reached pensionable age in fact if not in spirit!
Each May, when the organiser of the previous 12 months is reaching the end of her term of office, the section has a day out at Bancyfelin Club and this year was no exception.
Mair Evans had organised the stableford competition and the excellent meal provided by the Walters family.
These members who no longer play always enjoy attending the meal and the chance for a good natter.
The weather this year was dry, but it was a little chilly and windy, but as usual all the competitors enjoyed their game, however they played.
The winners were:
Up to 29 handicap - 1. Jean Charnock; 2. Anne Wilks.
Handicap 30-36 - 1. Sandra Parker; 2. Liz Crockford.
Nine-hole - Edna Lawrence.
At the end of the presentation, Mair handed over to Avril Probert and we wish her as successful a year as Mair has had.
