On a lovely autumnal morning last Sunday, Fishguard took on a Tenby team rejuvenated after last week's defeat in the Pembrokeshire Ladies Hockey League.

Tenby took their time to build up play, but then dominated and continually pressurised the Fishguard goal. They showed inventiveness by continually switching play to either wing, resulting in penetrating runs for Lucy, Mims, Pauline and Kate.

The Fishguard defence battled to soak up such pressure, but conceded a penalty corner. This resulted in Kate making an excellent strike from the top of the D and opening the scoring for Tenby.

The support play added to the pressure on the Fishguard goal and shortly before half-time Kate crossed the ball to find Annie and with her natural instinct for goal, she turned, struck the ball and scored.

Fishguard started brightly in the second half and quickly attacked the Tenby defensive line of Michelle, Sarah and Judy, who proved too strong, protecting Annie in goal, who didn't see the ball at all during the game.

Kate, Mandy and Barney showed determination and asserted themselves in midfield.

Mandy scored the third from a penalty corner, Pauline the fourth from a cross from Jude, the fifth from another cross converted by Mandy and the sixth from a Barney strike from another penalty corner.

Tenby demonstrated an all-round team effort reflected in the final score.

Thanks to umpires Bernie Wheeler and Keith Edwards.
