Tenby Ladies Hockey Club U16s played their first game on Tuesday night. They faced an established and more experienced Pembroke U16s team, but were positive in their approach.

Both teams began without goalkeepers and Tenby quickly found themselves 2-0 down. Michelle (U35s) donned the kit in an attempt to spare any more goals, which unfortunately didn't altogether succeed. Tenby tried to play themselves out of trouble, but the Pembroke girls were far too strong and by half-time the score was 4-0.

In the second half, Tenby passed better and Kaylie, Bethan and Vicki in defence tackled bravely and tried to clear the ball wide. Chantelle, Olivia, Zoe and Sophie closed down the opposition quicker and were rewarded by distributing the ball to Pippa, Tara and 'Freda', who all held up the ball in the final quarter.

Tenby had three chances to score during the game, but Pembroke were the eventual victors 6-0.

Congratulations to all the whole squad for a brave effort and thanks to parents for support and to Julia and Pembroke for a good game.

The next fixture is the Pembrokeshire League U16s Tournament held at Pembroke on December 7.

Training continues on Tuesday nights at Tenby Leisure Centre, 7.30-8.30 pm. Contact Michelle for more information on 01834 814321 (after 6 pm).
