A 10-year-old singer has turned up to raise more than £2,200 for Help for Heroes with his own tribute to the troops in Afghanistan.

Tenby Junior School pupil Kristian Westmacott recorded the touching song 'Sometimes I Wonder' after being given the chance to make a DVD as his prize in a talent competition.

The youngster decided to fundraise after watching news reports of the war in Afghanistan. Sales of 500 DVDs and donations from well-wishers and audiences at Tenby's Giltar Hotel, where he sang every week for several months last year, raised £2,180.

Kristian is no stranger to performing in public, as he helps out on backing vocals and bongos when mum and dad, Richie and Arleen, play locally as Elephant Gerald and Ella Guru.

Last Thursday, family, friends and helpers were invited to the Giltar Hotel to see Kristian present a cheque to Lady Dena Lloyd Waterford, Carmarthenshire co-ordinator for Help for Heroes.

The total was boosted to £2,270 by £90 collected on the night.
