On Saturday Tenby United Rugby Club provided a fun family day out at Heywood Lane in the form of the popular TV game show- ’It’s a Knock Out.’
The gates opened at 10.30 with free admission and plenty of entertainment for the families- a bouncy castle, gladiator arena, the sweeper and a variety of ball games spread out over the field. There were food stalls galore- including crepes, barbecue, cream teas, sweet stalls and welsh cakes, and many families came to make the most of all that was on offer!
At 1 o’clock the real entertainment began with the teams taking on the challenge of ’It’s a Knock Out’. Teams from the Fire station, Tenby United RFC and Kiln Park, to name just a few, began the competition. Races which included the wet sponge relay, the original crazy giant suit run, sumo wrestling penguins, wet inflatable hurdles, space hopping sausages and an inflatable obstacle course with king-size quantities of foam, gave the teams the challenge for the next couple of hours. The races were extremely well organised, instructed and commentated on by the organisers of the games.
The smiles on the faces of the competitors and the roars of laughter from the spectators was enough to show how much people really enjoyed the extravaganza. At the end of the final race all competitors were soaked, covered in foam and exhausted from laughing and exertion.
Thank you to all of the teams who took part- they showed team work, fair play- well most of them!!!!!!, strength of agility and character, and all had great fun! The top three winning teams were presented with medals and the winning team, The Swifts, with a bottle of champagne too.
The entertainment and food continued after the races, with the food stalls and licensed bar being particularly busy with the competitors who deserved their refreshments after an exhilarating couple of hours!
It was a fantastic day out - one that we hope will be repeated next year. A huge thank you to Dom and her gang for organising such an entertaining fun-filled family day spectacular, and a massive thank you to the businesses who donated raffle prizes and supported this event.
