Sir,

Many supermarkets come under fire for selling lagers and various beers cheaper than most.

Instead of thinking that cheap booze encourages people to drink more, why not see it as just someone making it a bit easier for the working class bloke and pensioner to have a beer without having to pay extortionate prices.

Some of the public may be celebrating the fact that J. D. Wetherspoon are selling a 99p pint, but this kind of thing will only kill the rest of the pub trade, especially if one opened here in Tenby.

People who love to socialise down the pub, including myself, know full well that the breweries and the government need to help the pub trade keep prices stable, before we all see the closure of many pubs and all experience a very old British tradition finally coming to an end, consequently affecting village life and towns like Tenby becoming ghost towns.

Bob Lowe,

Tenby.
