A Kilgetty mum will be following in the footsteps of Jessica Ennis-Hill and Mo Farah, when she takes on the Great Newham London Run this month to raise funds for Tenovus Cancer Care.
Laura Albero will be running the 10K event in East London on July 17 for charity to recognise all the support Tenovus has given to her family.
“My husband has Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia, and Tenovus have been able to help us find a counsellor who works with people with ASD (like my son) and have been there on line for any question or worry, or just to hear me babble about the experience of being the family member,” explained Laura.
“They are available to us all the time via twitter, or the phone, or email, and are friendly, available, and quick, and they understand what we need,” continued Laura, who has urged others to donate to the cause, so that more families can feel like they are supported through their difficult journey, as the charity helps so many people in lots of different circumstances.
All runners in the 10k will get the chance to have their very own Olympic moment as they finish inside the stadium and cross the famous finish line and running track, which saw Olympic greats Usain Bolt, Jessica Ennis-Hill and Mo Farah race across in 2012.
The course will also take in the sights of Lee Valley Velo Park, the London Aquatics Centre and the Copper Box Arena.
“Thanks to all the people who have donated so far, I am really looking forward to race day, it might be a slow 10K, but, I will get it done!” added Laura.
