A man who terrorised his former wife with threats and abusive telephone calls has been jailed for three months.

Forty-one-year-old Barry Hughes, of Narberth, admitted making nuisance telephone calls and breaching a court order not to molest Catherine Harris.

Janet Gedrych, prosecuting, told Swansea crown court the background to the case lay in a bitter divorce three years ago.

In February, Hughes went to Miss Harris's home in Amroth and, not finding her there, drove to her new boyfriend's house, and after waiting for him to leave for work entered the house and assaulted his ex-wife.

For that offence he was conditionally discharged, a condition being that he did not molest Miss Harris again.

However, on September 3, Miss Harris received numerous calls from Hughes, which gradually became more abusive and eventually threatening.

His barrister, Mr. Bill Peters, said the aftermath of the break-up of his marriage had caused him to act out of character.
