Kilgetty AFC recently held their annual award presentation night at the Kilgetty Sports and Social Club for there talented under 10s, 11s and 12s sides.

There was an overwhelming turn out as the players' families filled the clubhouse. The atmosphere was bubbling with excitement in the build up to this, year's awards.

Kilgetty Club chairman, Andrew Cope, started the evening, by offering a warm welcome.

He spoke of his delight to see the club so full, and of the growing interest and involvement of the parents. He went on to say how proud he was of all the teams, not only for their playing ability, but of their outstanding conduct both on and off the field of play. He then called upon Micky Marsh, Under 10s manager, to say a few words before making the awards.

Micky thanked the players for such an enjoyable season; the parents for assisting with the transport, Kelly for ensuring the changing rooms were always open; Neil, Mark, and Andy for their help with the team and training and Kath for her hard work washing the kit, and cooking the hot dogs after the games.

The Under 10s awards winners were:

Joint top goal scorers - Richard Cope and Alan Townsend.

Player's player - Callum Proctor.

Player of the year - James North.

Alex Collins, Under 11s manager, was next in line to present the awards to his players.

Alex praised his players for their commitment throughout the season, and, though his squad of players was small, it was full of exciting talent, which would strengthen any side they were to play in.

Alex reiterated the statements made by Micky, thanking the parents for their help with transport, and wife Rita for washing the kit.

The Under 11s awards winners were:

Top goal scorer - Josh Bevan.

Players' player of the year - John Bevan.

Most improved player of the year - Sam Large.

Bobby Bevan, Under 12s manager commented, like Alex that he had a small squad of players to work with at the beginning of the season, but was encouraged by the influx of new players wanting to sign for Kilgetty.

With the new players settling quickly, the season improved dramatically. Because of the weather, many of the games were called off which led to a busy end to the season, having to play five games in 14 days but this showed the character within the side by winning four of these games.

Bobby had nothing but praise for his players and looked forward to the new season. He went on to thank the parents who had assisted with transport and his wife Barbara for washing the kit.

The Under 12s award winners were:

Top goal scorer - Dan Colley.

Most improved players of the year - Edward Merriman and Dean Morgan.

Players' player of the year - Robert Whitfield.

Player of the year - Jack Bevan.

David Busby, on behalf of the parents, presented Bobby Bevan with a lovely tankard in appreciation of hard work and dedication over the last four years.

Before enjoying the lovely buffet, the chairman paid tribute to all the managers for their support and effort during the year and wished the players every success in the coming year.
