This month's meeting was at the Derllys Court Golf Club. The weather was fair, but the course was soft in places, not too much run on the fairways. A warm welcome was given to Bob 'Ex-Cartwheel' Simpson, enjoying his golf after many years in the restaurant. Results were vastly superior to those at St. Davids, only 10 of the 27 players failing to reach 30 pts. With nine teams, we were fortunate to be able to use two tees, easing the waiting time for the excellent meal. From the first tee: Terry Foggy Harvey 25 pts, Dave Nails Bradbury 26 and Steve Gimlet Pearce 32; Gary Speed Date Hopkins 37 pts, Mike Janitor Thomas 24 and Mark Woody Wood 34; Glyn Da-Loo Jones 26 pts, Steve Eleanor Rigby 31 and Lee Longshot Lewis 29 - his single figure handicap is finally taking its toll; Phil Sheepskin Rugg 37 pts, Richard Nelson Davies 27 and Rob Mr. Fix It Thomas 38 - home course advantage; Bob Ex-Cartwheel Simpson 21 pts, Wyn Barnes Wallace Hopkins 38 - he managed to reach the second green by bouncing the ball twice on the lake, and Barry Chippy Wood 36. From the 10th tee: Wayne Screws Connett 34 pts - despite losing a couple of balls, John Scribe James 37 and Phil No Buggy Rees 29; Neil Mighty Mouse Evans 29 pts, Trevor Santa Lewis 34 and Tim Gavel Davies 34; Darrell Ex-Rods Jones 26 pts, Keith Luke Warm Warmington 24 and Adrian Lightning Alam 35; Stewart Smokie Joe Evans 32 pts, Bob Jalna King 30 and Frank Meidrim Simmons 37. As can be seen, the results on the leader board were very close and back nine scores were used to determine the placings. Wyn Barnes Wallace with his 38 points won first prize, much to his delight, having been used to receiving the wooden spoon -well done Wyn, keep practising the bouncers. In second place was Rob Mr. Fix it, also on 38 points, while third place went to Frank Meidrim on 37. Nearest the pin, on two holes, were Phil Sheepskin and Gary Speed Date. Longest drive was won by Frank Meidrim. The OAP prize with his 37 points, Gary Speed Date - must be good for him! Over 20 handicap was won by Stewart Smokie Joe - his first outing for some time. On his debut, Bob Ex-Cartwheel took the wooden spoon with 21 points - must be one of the highest scores to end up with the spoon. Team prize went to the combination of Phil Sheepskin, Richard Nelson and Rob Mr. Fix it. Finally, there were three twos, Phil Sheepskin, Gary Speed Date and Barry Chippy. Thanks again to Woody for all his hard work. The next venue is Haverfordwest on May 14.
