This month's Kilgetty Golf Society outing at the picturesque Carmarthen Golf Club was attended by 26 regulars and newcomer, David 'Cape Town' Evans. The weather was perfect, the course in good condition and everyone was looking forward to high scores. However, the patches of heather and numerous trees took heavy toll on the wayward drivers. Nine teams of three teed-off from the first in the following order: Trevor 'Santa' Lewis, Neil 'Mighty Mouse' Evans and Richard 'Tiger' Davies. Phil 'Sheepskin' Rugg, Terry 'Foggy' Harvey and Lee 'Long-shot' Lewis. Adrian 'Lightning' Alman, Keith 'Lukewarm' Warmington and Glyn 'Caravan' Latcham. Darrell 'Ex-rods' Jones, Barry 'Sugar' Wood and Wyn 'Lob Wedge' Hopkins. Glyn 'Cleggy' Jones, Arwyn 'Mushy' Thomas and Tim 'Gavel' Davies. Giles 'HTV' Smith, David 'Cape Town' Evans and Rick 'Megane' Lewis. Frank 'Oil Rig' Simmons, John 'Scribe' James and Mark 'Woody' Wood. Gary 'Speed-date' Hopkins, Roy 'Scooter' Good and Steve 'Stetson' Oulsnam. Phil 'Dai' Rees, Richard 'Nelson' Davies and Steve 'Oars' Jones. After last month's handicap review, other names appeared in the prize list this time, with results as follows: Individual winners - 1. Steve 'Stetson' Oulsnam 37 pts; 2. Rick 'Megane' Lewis 36; and 3. Neil 'Mighty Mouse' Evans. Well played lads. The team prize went to Adrian 'Lightning' Alman, Keith 'Lukewarm' Warmington and Glyn 'Caravan' Latcham. Longest drive - once again, the power of Lee 'Long-shot' Lewis prevailed; however, 'Woody' was only a few feet behind. Nearest the pin was won by Barry 'Sugar' Wood, but he did not convert it into a birdie. Over 20 handicap winner was Arwyn 'Mushy' Thomas with 34 points, while the OAP title went to Trevor 'Santa' Lewis with 32. The only two of the day was that of Glyn 'Caravan' Latcham, and finally, the wooden spoon went to Richard 'Nelson' Davies - we think he has a market for them on E-Bay! Thanks to Mark and Barry for another very enjoyable day's golf, and thanks also to the staff at Carmarthen GC, especially the catering family for a superb roast beef carvery. A venue for next month has yet to be decided, either Glyn Hir or Garnant Park, on Wednesday, September 12.
