Kilgetty Cricket Club will hold a special meeting at Kilgetty Sports Club on Tuesday, September 21, at 7.30 pm, to consider entering a second team in the Dragon Sports Pembroke County Cricket League next season. Club secretary, Rose Jenkins, said: "With the rapid development of players in the junior section, the number of former players interested in returning to the club and new players queuing up to join, we are unable to give everyone a game with just one team in the league. "We have decided to call a meeting of all current players with an open invitation to any former player or any new player interested in returning to or joining the club to come along. "Since returning to the league in 2003, we have been promoted in two successive seasons, so the the first team will play in Division Four next season and if a second team is formed, the new team will play in Division Six. "This will be ideal for the better junior players or experienced players who still want a game and who can pass on tips to the younger players. "An early decision is essential in order to comply with the entry requirements of the County Club and also in fairness to our neighbours Carew, as Carew Thirds have been playing on our ground for the last three seasons. "We have tremendous support from spectators and sponsors each week and they would love to see two Kilgetty teams in action next season. "Two teams will increase the off the field activities at the Club, so we would also welcome anyone at the meeting who is prepared to help the club in any way." In conclusion, she said: "We can only enter two teams in the league if we have a sufficient pool of players prepared to commit themselves to the Kilgetty cause now. "If anyone is interested in playing next season, but unable to attend the meeting, they can contact us so that their names can be added to the growing list of players at the club."
