Preparations for the new season for Kilgetty Cricket Club have been hampered because the sports club has been closed for refurbishment following the damage caused by burst pipes during the cold snap.
Normally, the clubhouse is the focal point for players and officials getting together during the winter months so the regular meeting place has been missed.
Nevertheless, new first team skipper Richard Gwyther and his players are itching for the season to start as are the players in the Seconds and all age group sides at the club.
Club secretary Rose Jenkins said "Problems with drainage last season should be a thing of the past as the wet areas have been drained in get everything up and running for the start of the new season.
"We have two senior teams with the first team keen to bounce back to Division Three, as well as teams at Under 11, 13 and 15 levels.
"New players, scorers and volunteers will be welcomed warmly and the refurbished and enlarged clubhouse is due open shortly.
"Players and spectators will enjoy the new facilities and the improved drainage. Combined with a bit of luck from the weather it should mean that there will be more matches for the teams to play and supporters to watch in the 2009 season."
