The latest meeting of Kilgetty, Begelly Community Council (KBCC) took place at Kilgetty-Begelly Community Centre when among the news and other main items discussed were:
• Three applicants for the casual vacancy undertook presentations to councillors at the meeting. Following due consideration, Paul Wyatt was confirmed as the successful applicant and will take up his position, as a co-opted councillor for Kilgetty ward, at December’s meeting.
• Pembrokeshire County Council (PCC) would be undertaking additional landscaping at Miners’ Field, Kilgetty, this month. Registration of the land at Miners’ Field, in the name of KBCC, had now been completed.
• The Rural Futures Initiative in Kilgetty and Begelly continues to move forward with further events planned for January 2019.
• Dyfed-Powys Police surgeries continue to be held in the Community Centre, Kilgetty, on the second Thursday of each month between 10 am and 12 noon.
• KBCC had now been provided with plans, illustrations and quotations for new play area equipment at Kilgetty play area by one supplier. KBCC will now seek further quotations from other suppliers and look to consult with Stepaside School on preferences. Suppliers will also be asked to provide quotations for new play equipment at Begelly play area. Quarterly inspections for Kilgetty and Begelly Play Areas had been received and remedial safety work to some of the existing equipment at Kilgetty play area would shortly be carried out.
• Festive lighting in Kilgetty will be installed later this month and would be lit between December 1 and January 6.
• Local residents and organisations are encouraged to send information on special events in the area to the clerk, who will then consider for inclusion on the KBCC website.
Begelly-Kilgetty Community Association
• Orders for new heaters at the Community Centre, Kilgetty, have been placed and installation work should commence around November 19.
• Recent damage to a part of the roof at the Community Centre had been repaired. The memorial stone in the Community Garden had been cleaned.
• A reminder that the Christmas Fayre is planned for Saturday, December 8, at 10 am and that this year’s Mince Pies and Music event is scheduled to take place on the afternoon of Thursday, December 13.
Planning
KBCC considered the following planning application and after discussion made the following recommendation to Pembrokeshire County Council;
• Enlargement of area of caravan site, erection of a meet and greet building, children’s play area, new roads and landscaping at Ryelands Caravan Park, Ryelands Lane, Kilgetty. Full council had been consulted on this major development at pre-planning application consultation stage. Two councillors had undertaken a site visit during the consultation stage and had reported back to KBCC at its September meeting. No comments had been made to the applicant at that point. Full council now recommended approval of this full planning application.
County Clr. David Pugh’s Report
County Clr. Pugh provided the following report:
• A recent burst water main in Thomas Chapel, resulting in a road closure, had been repaired by Welsh Water.
• As mentioned above, Dyfed-Powys Police surgeries for local residents continue to take place at the Community Centre, Kilgetty, on the second Thursday of each month between 10 am and 12 noon.
• PCC and Dyfed-Powys Police are in discussion about extending the 40 mph speed limit from Windberry Top to the junction with Ryelands Lane on the A478 at Begelly. KBCC will be kept informed.
• Events as part of the Rural Futures Initiative are planned for January.
• PCC had approved a draft of changes to the Gambling Act and this would be considered by its Cabinet on December 3.
• A possible relaxation of policy by the Welsh Government, on the use of Vehicle Recognition Cameras, may assist in taking forward plans for their installation outside the Co-operative in Kilgetty, to help prevent the continued illegal parking at this location. KBCC to be kept informed.
Next Meeting
The next meeting of KBCC is scheduled to take place on Thursday, December 13, in the Plum Room, Kilgetty-Begelly Community Centre, commencing at 7 pm. A 15-minute public participation session is always scheduled prior to the start of full council meetings.
