A meeting of Kilgetty Begelly Community Council was held recently at the Community Centre. Clr. Anderson opened the meeting.
The following items were discussed at the meeting:
Clr. Lockley was elected as the chairman for the forthcoming year. Clr. Anderson was presented with a shield to commemorate his year as chairman. Clr. Anderson handed over to Clr. Lockley who chaired the rest of the meeting.
Clr. Pendleton was elected as the vice-chairman for the forthcoming year.
The community council has six vacancies for councillors. Anyone living within Kilgetty, Begelly, Reynalton and Thomas Chapel is asked to seriously consider becoming a community councillor. If you have an interest in local matters and would like to make a difference to the community, then the council needs you. If new councillors are not found, then the community council may have to be dissolved and Pembrokeshire County Council would take over its functions. The community council has a vital role to play in local planning applications.
It was decided to reduce the quorum for meetings to three. This decision would be reviewed if the number of councillors increased.
The Charity Commission had been asked for a change of use for the Miners Field into allotments. The community council hoped to have their decision soon.
It had been brought to the council's attention that there was a First Responder Unit operating locally. The First Responder Unit was a voluntary part of the Welsh Ambulance Service. The First Responder Unit was staffed by fully-trained volunteers, who attend medical emergencies where an ambulance has been called. The unit often arrives before the ambulance.
The bench bought to commemorate the Queen's Jubilee had been delivered. The clerk had ordered the brass plaque for the bench.
The sports club had been given permission to use the area inside the green fence for the Bull Dog Run.
Clr. Anderson gave a report from the last community association meeting: Several trees had been donated. They had been planted. Some guttering had been replaced on the Hall. Water and electricity were to be put into the community garden. This would make it much easier to hold events in the garden. A plant and table top sale would be held in the community hall on June 9.
County Councillor Pugh left a report: He was still waiting to hear about funding for the next phase of the play area. A bid was put in for Tidy Towns funding.
