The following issues were among those discussed at the April meeting of Kilgetty, Begelly Community Council: Community Project: The council has written to the planning department regarding the possibility of waiving the fee for submitting the planning application for the Community Project. The Welsh Assembly have been asked for their guidance on this point. A letter has been sent to Dr. Jones, director of development, Pembrokeshire County Council, for an update. Ideas regarding fund-raising to help finance the Community Project are welcomed. New clerk: The council is pleased to announce that a new clerk has been appointed. Louise Curran will commence her duties at the May meeting. Slide: The slide at Begelly playing field has been identified as having limited life, therefore it is probable that it will be removed, in the interests of health and safety, in the near future. Fire safety checks: Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service offer a free home fire safety check. They are available by telephoning 0870 60 90 699. Certificates of Achievement: These are awarded to any individuals or groups of people who residents think should be nominated for their good deeds, or volunteering their time and effort for the good of the community. If anyone knows of a person or group who they think deserves a certificate, then please write to the clerk, Mrs. Janet Ward, at the Community Centre, Carmarthen Road, Kilgetty (tel. 07919 837745). Planning applications received this month: Siting of mobile home in connection with an equestrian business, land east of Ryelands Lane, Kilgetty; Erection of stable block plus tack room, land east of Ryelands Lane, Kilgetty; Change of use from engine house to dwelling, Rickety Barn, Reynalton; Extension and alterations to existing outbuildings to form separate two-bed accommodation, Chronicle Park, Parsonage Lane, Begelly; Change of use of chapel to house retaining all existing external features, Zion Baptist Church, Begelly; Alterations and extensions of existing house and school room, change of use to form part of the house, Zion House School Room, Begelly. Planning permission received this month: Erection of stable block with ancillary residential guest accommodation, land at Little Langdon, Begelly; Extension to dwelling, 3 Fir Grove, Begelly. Outline planning permission received this month: Erection of dwelling, land to rear of Shipping, Farmhouse, Begelly. Refusal of planning permission received this month: Variation of condition two of D3/804/89 to increase numbers up to 55 touring caravans, Ryelands Caravan Park, Ryelands Lane, Kilgetty; Extension to Begelly Business Park, land adjacent Begelly Park Cottage, Begelly. Indoor bowls is available to all ages at the Community Centre on Mondays, 2 - 4.30 pm, and Thursday evenings, 7 - 9.30 pm. The Library is open on Friday afternoon at the Community Centre.
