The following issues were discussed at the January meeting of Kilgetty, begelly Community Council. Community project: The council has written to the planning department regarding the possibility of waiving the fee for submitting the planning application for the community project. They have been advised that the Welsh Assembly have been asked for their guidance on this point. Ideas regarding fund-raising to help finance the project are welcomed by the council. Road closure: There will be a temporary road closure involving the Class 111 (C3015) Saundersfoot to Wisemans Bridge road. It is intended that the works will commence on Monday, January 28, and be completed in approximately 10 weeks. Precept: The precept for 2008-2009 will be £20,500 - no change from last year. Language scheme: The council are pleased to advise that they have selected their proposed Welsh Language Scheme and will be sending two copies, both in English and Welsh, to the Welsh Language Board. Dropped kerb: The council's request for a dropped kerb on the CTeck side leading into St. Mary's Place had been agreed and the work should be carried out in the next two weeks. Safety check: The Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service offer a free home fire safety check. It is available by telephoning 0870 60 60 699. Certificate of Achievement: This is awarded to any individual or group of people who residents think should be nominated for their good deeds, or volunteering their time and effort for the good of the community. Anyone who knows of a person or group who they think deserves such a certificate is asked to please write to the council clerk, Mrs. Janet Ward, at the Community Centre, Carmarthen Road, Kilgetty (tel. 07919 837745). Planning permission received this month: Erection of a garage, Reynalton House, Reynalton; Renovation, conversion and extension to existing house and schoolroom, Zion House and Schoolroom, Begelly; Proposed garage and washroom at lower ground level with garden shed at higher ground level over the garage Apple Tree Cottage, Reynalton; Amendments to part of existing planning consent - The Poplars, Cross Lanes, Kilgetty. Indoor bowls is available to all ages at the Community Centre on Mondays, 2 - 4.30 pm and Thursday evenings, 7 - 9.30 pm. The Library is open on Friday afternoon at the Community Centre.
