New chairman of Kilgetty, Begelly Community Council is Mrs. Diane Lockley (Begelly ward). She was elected at the May meeting of the council, when Mr. John Harris (Kilgetty ward) was elected vice-chairman for 2007/08. Thanks were expressed to outgoing chairman, Mr. Trevor Andrews, for his successful term in office during 2006/07. Community project: The council would like to thank members of the Environmental Group of the Association and volunteers for the excellent job in creating the Community Garden. Ideas regarding fund-raising to help finance the Community Project are always welcome. Please send these to e-mail [email protected]">[email protected]. Highway matters: Road markings SLOW and ARAF would be provided to reinforce the bend warning at the WWA treatment plant east of Kilgetty. The council had requested a dropped kerb on the CTeck side leading into St. Mary's Place. This would be carried out and the existing one on the opposite corner near the bus shelter would also be improved by the county council. A pavement from Begelly Stores to Folly Farm had been requested. Unfortunately, this scheme did not have a high priority rating and would be reconsidered for the 2008/09 financial year. The county council had informed the community council that after raising the issue of M4 signing along the TRA477 with the Welsh Assembly Government, who were responsible for all signing issues along the trunk road network in Pembrokeshire, the cost would be considerable and motorists should be able to use the same means of navigation to return home. Certificates of Achievement: These are awarded to any individual or group of people who residents think should be nominated for their good deeds or volunteering their time and effort for the good of the community. If anyone knows of a person or group who they think deserves a certificate, then please write to the clerk, Mrs. Janet Ward, at the Council Office, Carmarthen Road, Kilgetty (tel. 07919 837745).
