The following issues were discussed at the April 2006 Community Council Meeting.

Kingsmoor Common - Wood chip from the removal of scrub land is available to residents and can be collected on Fridays between 11 am and 12 noon (please ring 01834 811742) and Wednesdays between 2.30 and 3.30 pm (please ring 01834 813218). There will be a charge of 25p per bag and £5 for a trailer-load. The money will be used to purchase spring and summer flowers for the villages.

Mrs. Kathryn Charles was co-opted as a community councillor and will represent the Begelly Ward. Two vacancies are available for the Kilgetty Ward and a notice to this effect will be posted in due course.

Councillors were saddened by the decision to close Pentlepoir School which had been providing education for 100 years or more. They will be writing with their disapproval.

Residents of Thomas Chapel are informed that complaints have been received regarding dog dirt being left and not removed. Should this continue, the council will have to stop the grass maintenance in the village. Please be advised that the dog warden has been contacted and will carry out spot checks.

The base for the re-siting of the bench had been laid and the bench would be fitted very soon. Heating and insulation grants of up to £1,500 or £2,700 are available - ring Freephone 0800 316 2815.

Certificate of Achievement: This is awarded to any individual or group who residents think should be nominated for their good deeds, or volunteering their time and effort for the good of the community. Outline planning received this month: dwelling and garage - adjacent to Ashdown, Begelly.
