Kilgetty footballers held their annual football awards dinners at the Wisemans Bridge Inn. The master of ceremonies, Stuart Wilde, welcomed Kilgetty's president, Mr. George Edwards, who had once again made a special effort to attend the dinner, travelling down from Cardiff to his beloved Kilgetty with a long term family friend, Mr. Rhodri Williams. George Edwards spoke openly and passionately of his love of the game and recalled an occasion when playing first division football for Tottenham Hotspurs one week then travelling home to see his family. He played for Kilgetty the following week at Llanstadwell. He remembered changing in tin sheds where players carefully positioned their clothes to avoid the drips of rain leaking through the roof! Kilgetty's best known footballing son, George Edwards was a top class left wing who started his career at Swansea Town, going on to play at Cardiff City, Birmingham City and, of course, Spurs. He also gained full Welsh international honours. Mr. Rhodri Williams was guest speaker and spoke of George's time in office in the Sports Council of Wales and through his influence was able to get funding for various clubs in the Pembrokeshire area. Club chairman, Paul Smith, thanked the committee and the managers for their hard work, club sponsors Tony Ormond Plumbing and Heating and Roy Morell Pembrokeshire scaffolding. Paul also presented his wife Terene and Mrs. Wendy Williams with a bouquet of flowers each for cooking the food during the season. The following awards were made. Second team top goal scorer - Barry Ormond; first team top goal scorer - Nick Cope; second team players' player of the year - Joe Scourfield; first team players' player of the year - Jack Bevan; Hugh Beynon award for best up and coming player - Josh Bevan; young player of the year - Paul Hodge; Huw Morgan Trophy for outstanding contribution of the year - Barry Ormond; George Edwards Trophy clubman of the year - Alan Williams. After the presentation of the awards, players, officials and guests enjoyed the entertainment provided by disc jockey Dilwyn Davies.
